The Oscars
Pretentious rear-smooching.
I loathe the Oscars.
They are not about the films, but the politics surrounding the films.
Ever since people said that they changed their mind about voting for Gosford Park to win when director Robert Altman made anti-American comments. Good thing the voting has to do with the film.
Sure, bias is something that’s difficult to get passed and I’m not saying I would be better, but then again, I don’t get to vote for the Academy.
The Dark Knight was a superior film to all the films up for Best Picture this year (Benjamin Button, Frost/Nixon, Slumdog Millionaire, The Reader and Milk), yet for some reason it didn’t even pick up a nomination?
The show itself is a 3 hour butt kissing spectacle aimed at Hollywood-ites talking about how funny, clever and awesome they are. This year, the best actor and actress nominations were probably the worst thing I’ve ever seen. Let’s talk about how awesome you guys are. Lame.
There is also so much that goes into “Oscar promoting” a film. Why? Shouldn’t you let the film speak for itself? Of course not, then the truly great films would always take the cake, not just the popular ones.
Halle Berry is a great example of the stupidity that is the Oscars. She is in a terrible movie, Monster’s Ball, in which she has sex with Billy Bob Thorton. She actually had sex with him. A married woman had intercourse with another man to make the movie more realistic and then Hollywood tells her how awesome she is. Stupid.
The Oscars are politically motivated celebrity love fests and stupid.

Oscars are dumb. They cause things like Rhianna getting her face beat in by Chris Brown at pre-parties.
