Swearing to tell the truth

Does anyone find this interesting?

So you take someone who allegedly committed a crime. Someone who probably doesn’t give a crap about breaking the law.

And then you make them “swear” to tell the truth, the whole truth and nothing but the truth?

Sure. How’s that worked so far?

Why isn’t every person who ever said they were not guilty, yet later found guilty, also charged with perjury?

This is just another piece of the stupidity puzzle that makes up our judicial system.

People who willingly commit crimes are usually willing to lie about it.

i think they would probably say that they weren’t actually lying, but giving a legitimate defense against the charges. just because they are found guilty doesn’t mean they were lying about their defense.
