Super Bowl Commercials

I can’t wait to watch those commercials!

Opposite.

Seriously, I get that in general, Super Bowl commercials are better than regular commercials. Big bucks mean big name actors, stunts, special effects, etc. But come on, people, you are actively participating in the watching of advertising meant to sucker you into wasting your money.

I hate commercials. My wife can attest that when any commercial comes on, I change the channel. I don’t care what you’re selling, I’m not buying. Super Bowl commercials are no different.

In the couple minutes I watched the Super Bowl, as soon as a commercial showed up, I flipped over to the CW to check out Groundhog Day. What a sweet movie. Honestly, one of Bill Murray’s best.

But what if I miss a great commercial? Not likely.

First of all, you do realize this is the same commercial that all these companies will be continuing to air for the next couple months. They did spend several million dollars on a commercial. So, odds are good, I’ll be seeing it soon.

As for any that I might “miss”, have you ever heard of the internet? I can probably go online right now, there is 5 minutes left in the 4th quarter, and see every Super Bowl commercial that has already aired. A good example is the GI Joe trailer that my cousin sent me 2 hours before the Super Bowl began. I got what I needed. And by tomorrow, I will be able to see any of those commercials again and again at my leisure.

My whole point here is people need to relax when it comes to Super Bowl commercials. They aren’t the greatest thing since thin-sliced deli meat.

I can’t believe the hype surrounding the commercials. I was listening to sports talk today and they had advertising analysts breaking down the commercials. It’s a commercial! I get it on some level, here’s a chance for a company to broadcast their product to over 100,000,000 viewers. That’s an incredible number. A huge opportunity. But you better bring it and most didn’t. I don’t mind a well put together commercial, (similar to a good short film) and I like they are all unveiled at one event, that’s kind of cool, the hype that people only watch the super bowl for the commercials makes me want to puke kind of.

Matt R… you posted one of two commercials I liked. The other I liked was the Monster.com one where the donkey head was on one side of the wall and the rear end of the donkey was on the other… where the dude’s office desk was.

    Good ones for sure.

DVR. I never watch commercials. I hate them. If a live tv show is on that i like i record it and watch something that’s already recorded.we had a super bowl party. i was forced to watch them. the doritos commercials were probably the funniest.
