Sleepaway Camp
Oh, man. This movie is so jacked up.
I just made some people watch this movie tonight. I hadn’t seen it in a couple years and I hoped that I hadn’t hyped it up in my mind too much.
It totally delivered.
This is the story of a girl, Angela, who goes to a summer camp where 8 years earlier her family was killed on the same lake in a boating accident. Once at the camp, everyone starts dying and wacky campness ensues.
Now, let’s be up front here. Overall, this movie is fairly slow paced, terribly acted and boring, but the ending makes the whole thing worth it. It’s so weird and twisted that you forgot that you just wasted the last hour and 20 minutes.
The death scenes are quite mild and not that many people even die. Honestly, the first hour of this thing is more like an 80′s summer camp movie more than a horror film.
It has it’s share of swearing and tons of dudes wearing tight short shorts and cut off t-shirts, which might be what some of you are into (Lloyd?). But overall, you should force yourself to sit through this movie. In the end you will either thank me or hate me.
One other thing to note, the African-American man who works in the kitchen looked and sounded a lot like James Earl Jones to me. Upon investigation, that character was played by Robert Earl Jones, his father. So there’s a little tidbit for you.

Woah that’s really his father? That’s crazy. You should have talked about how the lead singer of CKY was obsessed with this movie and then when he got older he married the girl who played Angela in the movie. Creepy.

Did one of the people die by getting shoved in an outhouse? I’m trying to remember which one of these I’ve seen.
