LOST – He’s Our You (s5e10)
Not revealing, but still good.
This is a Sayid-centric episode in which we basically learn how Ben continued to manipulate him off-island and how he winded up getting on the Ajira flight. Good for connecting pieces, not so good for solving mysteries.
I don’t have a problem with that, though. The reason LOST was, is, will be, so good is because they focus on the characters and in-depth character building. We are slowly learning more and more about characters that completely change perceptions and judgments about who they are. Sure, we knew Sayid was a torturer, but I like how Ben spun it as it was “who” Sayid was.
The interaction between young Ben and Sayid is also phenomenal. Now, I 100% believe that Ben knew who at least Sayid was when he was first caught in Rousseau’s trap. I don’t think one would forget who shot them when they were a kid. That and Ben is too smart.
Is Ben dead? Well, not technically. LOST has really followed the linear space time theories so far, so it would really surprise me to see them deviate from that. I think that if Ben is “dead”, we will see some sort of Locke-esque resurrection via Jacob. Maybe this will be the first meeting between Ben and Jacob? That would really be cool. Either way, I’m banking on Ben being alive.
What for Sayid? Good question. Where does he think he’s going? Granted, he knows a lot about the island, but 30 years can really change the landscapes and jungles. I would not be shocked to see Sayid dead by the end of this season.
