Greatest Hits Albums

Hey, you know all those CDs you bought, now buy this one that has some of those songs on it.

Really Greatest Hits albums are terrible. For one, if you like the band, you probably already own all those songs, so that doesn’t really do you any good.

Secondly, you get some d-bag that hasn’t put the effort into this particular band and now they “know” all the hits.

Greatest Hits is pretty much like a clip show on TV and clip shows just piss me off. Two weeks ago the Office was “new”, but it turned out to be a clip show. That night I turn on Star Trek: TNG and guess what, clip show. Aren’t the creative people supposed to be the ones who aren’t lazy?

Anyway, this review is dating itself as we speak since anytime now they will stop making CDs altogether and you will just buy songs digitally. But then they will probably release a Greatest MP3s download…

That’s pretty much what the “most popular” or “highest rated” sort options are in iTunes, is a Greatest Hits playlist.
