Ghost Town

A not-terrible romantic comedy, but only saved by the great Ricky Gervais.

A film about a guy who dies during surgery and when he comes back to life, can now see and talk to ghosts. They bug the crap out of him, but one ghost (Greg Kinnear) says that they’ll leave him alone if he stops his widow from marrying another man.

Tea Leoni is the widow and to be honest, I’ve never been a fan of her. I think it’s her uggo face that bothers me and how most of the time that she talks, she looks like she’s constipated. So, that’s one strike.

It was a romantic comedy. Strike two.

Ricky Gervais is the star of the movie. Well done.

I don’t know if any of you have watched the British version of the Office, but Ricky Gervais is a comic genius that can make me laugh in almost any situation. There are so many quality classic Gervais moments in the movie and they make sitting through the scenes without him worth it.

It’s really not that bad. Fairly predictable in parts, but very funny in others.

If you have to sit through a romantic comedy with your lady friend, then convince her to watch Ghost Town. It’ll give her the garbage she’s looking for, but a little Ricky for the rest of us.

This movie was so lame. Yes, there were a few moments when Gervais’s greatness came through, but the movie didn’t work, because he was not consistent: sometimes he was trying to act, and other times he was being himself, and the moments where he was trying to act were just bland and boring. I actually think this movie would have been better with a different leading man. This role was just not right for him.

i don’t understand what that means. ricky gervais never acts.

That’s what I’m saying. The only times the movie worked was when he was being himself.
