Frankenstein

The name of the monster is NOT Frankenstein.

I get so sick of people calling the monster from the book Frankenstein by that name.

In the book, the scientist who creates the monster is named Victor Frankenstein. He never names the monster so that it lacks identity and furthers his rejection of the creature.

Then Boris Karloff and the Hollywood machine come to town and screw everything up.

So, the next time you hear someone refer to the creature from the Frankenstein novel as “Frankenstein”, sucker-punch them and tell them, “That one’s courtesy of Mary Shelley!

“The creature from the Frankenstein novel” could be better said as “Frankenstien’s Monster.” Otherwise, well said. I never understood why people thought the monster was named “Frankenstein.” It’s ridiculous . . . the monster is, at most, a few hours old–how could have received a doctorate yet?
