Burn After Reading

Finally, a good movie.

I had great expectations for this film.

I’m a Coen Bros. fan and I’d heard mixed reviews about this movie. Lloyd was one of the morons who said that it was terrible.

I really didn’t know what this film was about until sitting through it. Great acting by Pitt, Clooney, McDormand, Swinton and Malkovich. They were completely solid in their roles. Pitt was great, but I really think that Francis McDormand stole this film. She was complete with her character and she brought something unique to her role.

The writing and direction are phenomenal. The Coens are so good at making films and making each of them in a different way so that you couldn’t really watch them back-to-back and see the same style. Incredible followup to No Country for Old Men.

Overall, the reason this film did it for me was that it was clever and original. I get so sick of the same Hollywood templated shite. This film sets up predictable scenarios and then tosses your preconceptions in your face.

Vulgar, violent and funny.
